Endings and Beginnings

enabled = connected + empowered

During this tumultuous year, WORLD product development has sprinted forward. Securing funding has been difficult. Taking products to market has been a challenge. However, it is in times of adversity that we are our most innovative.

WORLD has an array of services in Eswatini with integration to both mobile operators’ networks and backed by commercial agreements. As the Kingdom of Eswatini hasn’t been accessible to our team since mid-March (thank you COVID-19), we have adapted WORLD’s strategy and are now focusing on other markets in Africa and indeed globally. We have been fortunate to partner with CEST (Ricardo Lannert, Alejandro Salinas and Edgardo Ranalli), who will be giving WORLD a Latin American focus.

Functionality in the Android application has evolved rapidly. With the focus shifting to markets with a higher penetration of iPhones, we have also begun developing a progressive web app (PWA). Multi-language support has been introduced.

Covid-19 has accelerated the trend of people meeting online. A conflict arises between anonymity (not sharing one’s personal details) and trust (being confident in the identity of the other individual).

WORLD enables Citizens to create multiple Personas that can be presented to the outside world. All these ‘profiles’ will be secured by a Trusted Identity. This presents the best of both worlds where you can receive information from a total stranger with the confidence that they have provided WORLD with sufficient information as proof of identity.

Many people find the swipe left or right approach to online dating superficial, but it has become the primary way to meet people. In December WORLD will pre-release the “Relationship Game”. This game allows people to meet online in complete anonymity and enables players to get to know each other through multiple choice questions and answers, before sharing photographs. Individuals determine for themselves which traits are important in a potential partner and effectively create their own matching algorithm. The Relationship Game is intended to make meeting people fun. It significantly reduces the intimidation factor of ‘marketing’ one’s self online.

The WORLD full-time team are;
Brain Collett, Dave Levin, Des Griggs, Hilton Goodhead James Doyle, Martin Drewes, Ronel Visagie, Xanti Bootcov.

The team would like to thank our contributors, associates, and everyone else who has supported the project over the year.

Have a great festive season. Looking forward to a new normal year.
